Why is the LED not working or lighting up?

In low light ambient conditions, the green LED ring fades to off, and then blinks approximately every 60 seconds. This unit samples the ambient light conditions of the alarm’s location and, if possible, determines a Night / Day cycle. A valid Night / Day cycle will delay unit chirps during the night until the next Day cycle begins.

Why won’t the device reset?

Accepted Answer

Ensure that the AC power is connected to the alarm while performing the reset. To reset the Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm with smart features, press and hold the center button for approximately 8 seconds (you will hear a 3 beep pattern).

What does the red blinking light on the detector mean once I insert batteries?

How do I set up my Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm with smart features?

For best Wi-Fi connection results, follow these steps: 1. Scan QR code shown in STEP 1 on the front of the Quick Start Guide. Install the Kidde app. 2. Open the Kidde app. Create and login to your account. Tap “Add a device.” Select “SMART Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm.” Follow in-app steps. 3. Scan your unique QR code, shown in STEP 3 of the Quick Start Guide, or on back of your alarm. Setup and connect alarm to the app. This will include instructions about wiring and installation (see sections 9, 10, and 11 of the user guide).

How do I enroll the alarm with Wi-Fi connection?

1. Activate the backup battery, apply AC power, install alarm. Locate the red wheel on the back of the device. Turn the red wheel to the “ON” position on the device using a standard screwdriver. Once the battery is activated, the device will emit a power on sound and blink green once every two minutes. Connect the AC Quick Connector Harness. When AC power is connected, the alarm will announce “Ready to connect, follow quick start instructions”. When AC power is connected, the light rings will glow fading red. Install the alarm fully on the mounting bracket by rotating the alarm in a clockwise direction. NOTE: The alarm will mount to the bracket in 4 positions (every 90 degrees). Installing the alarm on the mounting bracket will automatically activate the battery backup if it hasn’t already been activated. 2. Open the Kidde App and follow instructions on the App to finish Wi-Fi enrollment. NOTE: If no further steps are taken within 15 minutes of initial power up, a voice prompt, “Not Connected” will be heard once, and the Wi-Fi function will turn off. The unit will then perform as a standard hardwired alarm. See Section 11.3 in the user guide for reactivating Wi-Fi features. 3. After the Wi-Fi enrollment is completed, the alarm will announce “Success, now connected.” 4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 with each alarm to be enrolled with Wi-Fi.

Do I need additional products or services to work with my alarm?

This Alarm works independently without the need for additional products. To enable Wi-Fi functionality, you must have 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi internet connection. Wi-Fi functionality is enabled only when AC power is available. Refer to the user guide on how to set up your Alarm.

How can I ensure my Wi-Fi network is on a compatible 2.4 GHz band?

Accepted Answer

Wi-Fi alarms featuring Kidde HomeSafe must pair to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Your router model will help in understanding what Wi-Fi bands are available by default. If you are unaware of what router type you have, you can search for the make and model for more information. The following are the most common types of routers: Single-band Routers: This is the most common router setup and offers only a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band with one Wi-Fi network name on the screen. Your Wi-Fi alarm featuring Kidde HomeSafe should be able to pair with the network accordingly. Dual-band Routers: Newer routers offer multiple bands, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, sometimes with separate names or the same name, also known as a mesh router. If your router offers two separate bands, with one network name ending in -2.4G and one ending in -5G, connect to the Wi-Fi network ending in -2.4G. For all other routers, your Wi-Fi alarm featuring Kidde HomeSafe should be able to pair with the network accordingly. If you see only a single Wi-Fi name and are having difficulty pairing with the network, you may need to adjust your detailed router settings to set up a 2.4 GHz band. Check your router's user guide for how to log in to your router and adjust the settings. Typically, a web address to access your router settings and user guide can be found on the back of the router. In addition, devices featuring Kidde HomeSafe do not support connection to routers with WPA security mode. Please check if your home router is on WPA security mode. If so, please update your home router security mode to WPA2.

How do I set up mobile alerts for my Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Indoor Air Quality Monitor? (iOS/iPhone)?

What is a “Clean Alarm” notification?

Accepted Answer

If the alarm is in Fault mode, it will chirp every 30 seconds with a voice message: "Error, see troubleshooting guide." (Note: After 5 minutes the voice messages stop but the chirps will continue.) This could mean the alarm needs cleaning. Push the button once and count the number of red LED blinks. A fault code of 10 or 14 red LED blinks indicates cleaning is needed.
